‘Hong Kong Homage' Ginger Jar Lamp: Imperial Blue

The Hong Kong Homage Ginger Jar Lamp in Imperial Blue by The Ginger Jar Lamp Co. celebrates the city through an illustrated blue-and-white ceramic base. Paired with a natural woven bamboo shade, it brings distinctive detail and warm texture to a living room, bedside table or console.

Based on a specially commissioned watercolour by Singapore-based artist Fleur Kakasi, the design captures Hong Kong's iconic skyline against Victoria Peak. Lanterns, everyday city details and auspicious symbols add a playful sense of nostalgia, turning the classic ginger jar silhouette into a tribute to Hong Kong's culture and history.

Blue-and-white ceramics with a Hong Kong story

Made in Jingdezhen, China, the ceramic base uses a traditional transferware technique to reproduce the original illustration. The outline is then hand-finished with blue pigment, adding a crafted touch to the Imperial Blue design.

Style the lamp against pale walls and warm wood to let the illustration stand out, or place it alongside indigo textiles for a layered blue-and-white scheme. The woven bamboo shade balances the glazed ceramic with natural texture.
